Website Development
Zelus Analytics
To help establish Zelus Analytics’ new visual design, I developed their website using mock-ups they provided.
My role: Web Developer
Introduction
Zelus Analytics is a sports analytics company whose mission is to build the world’s leading sports intelligence platform for the professional teams in their exclusive partner network. As a growing company, they saw the need to develop a public site introducing themselves as well as their mission to potential clients as well as potential employees. They also saw the need to stylize and improve the responsiveness of their internal tools that serve the sports analytics needs of their clients.

My contributions
Front-end development, interaction design
Challenge
Improving the user experience of Zelus Analytic’s internal tools, so they can better serve the professional teams in their partner network.
Project duration
Four to six months
Public site development
For their public site, my design process started in the development/working prototype phase, since Zelus had finalized mock-ups of what they wanted the website to look like (created by another designer). They had started building the site out in WordPress, but needed help making it look and work like they had envisioned based off of these mock-ups. Most of my time was spent utilizing custom CSS and JS to ensure their site was functional, responsive, and easy to navigate. I utilized CSS to stylize the site to follow the design system determined by the designer who had created their mock-ups. I utilized JS to create a modal/carousel system that would give audiences more information about their employees.
Internal tools
Zelus Analytics’ internal tools aide their clients in making informed decisions about their teams and athletes. These tools come in the form of various data tables, graphics, and spreadsheets hosted by Shiny, an R package that makes it easy to build interactive web apps straight from R. I had the unique challenge of using my coding background to familiarize myself with both R and Shiny, and subsequently use my knowledge of CSS and JS in conjunction with these languages. Most of my efforts went into making sure these analytics tools could be used by Zelus’ clients on any device.
Due to privacy concerns involving the data shown within these internal tools, I am currently unable to display visual examples of my work publicly.
